Buttock Implants – Gluteal Prosthesis

The surgery for enlargement of the buttocks consists of the positioning of a silicone prosthesis, of pre-defined size and shape, in a space created inside the gluteal muscles bilaterally.

It is performed by an incision (cut), which will leave a final scar, in the intergluteal groove, or between the buttocks, near the coccyx.

Silicone implants are produced by several national and international companies, all of them with the same qualities and with little variation of prices.

Because they are made of inorganic material, prostheses cause few reactions in the human body. What may occur are called a reaction to the foreign body, which aims to insulate it, creating a fibrous (scar) membrane or capsule around the implant.

To improve the result obtained with the Glutealplasty augmentation may be indicated for certain area liposuction to improve the contour of the buttocks. Liposuction is explained in separate terms.

The Silicone implant does not cause Cancer, or any other disease. After inclusion of gluteal implants, applications of intramuscular (injection) medication to the buttocks are contraindicated.

If gluteal changes occur after the insertion of the prosthesis, it may be necessary to perform ultrasound, tomography or magnetic resonance imaging tests, in order to elucidate the diagnosis.

The trauma of the buttocks in addition to printing mechanical stress the prostheses, which can lead to their rupture, can also accelerate the process of capsular contracture or cause herniations, seromas or bruises that may have to be treated.

The scars evolve according to individual physiology, usually getting barely perceptible, especially in the gloom. If changes occur, there are treatments that can be employed in an attempt to improve the appearance of scars.

It is possible that purple spots (bruises) occur.

It is recommended that you sleep on your stomach in the first few nights and sit up and get up with help during the first 15 days to avoid straining your buttock muscles.

This surgery aims to increase the gluteal region, possibly small excesses of skin, which generate gluteal flaccidity may not be solved, requiring a new evaluation with the possibility of surgical re-intervention for resection of the skin and consequent scarring.
